About Us

Promoting self-esteem and cultural awareness through ballet folklorico and Latin dance for all ages.

Our Beginning

Alma Latina began with a simple but powerful vision: to share the beauty of folklórico as more than just dance, but as a way of life. Our director first stepped into folklórico at just four years old, discovering a path that shaped identity, discipline, and passion. What began as a six-week teaching commitment at the age of 23 grew into a thriving community that, twenty-five years later, continues to flourish. Through every performance, Alma Latina has remained a reflection of life’s milestones—celebrating joy, resilience, and tradition with every step.

From the start, Alma Latina chose not to pursue competition, but instead to center its work on culture, history, and art. Dancers are taught not only choreography but also the meaning behind each region, costume, and song, making folklórico a living tradition rooted in knowledge and pride. More than a dance group, Alma Latina has always been a family—coming together through life’s triumphs and challenges, supporting one another, and building a home that welcomes dancers, parents, instructors, and patrons alike. Today, a quarter century later, Alma Latina stands as a vibrant community and cultural legacy, filled with gratitude and pride for all who have been part of the journey.
